One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart that you can’t utter.

I cannot believe that April is just around the corner! For many school SLPs, that means that you are almost to your summer vacation! We’ve got this. 🙂 This month is jam packed with two holidays and other fun themed weeks. These speech therapy materials and activities cover a variety of goals, including both language and articulation goals. Each week includes a workbook, articulation worksheets, and language worksheets. The grade levels for these speech therapy materials are for preschoolers all the way up to 6th graders!
Each workbook has an associated book companion that will allow you to have the child listen to or read a story and then complete some activities afterwards. These activities can be anything from WH- questions, a writing activity, sequencing activity, or articulation activity. The workbook also includes other various activities and worksheets to cover many different language and articulation goals.
If you decide on getting the entire bundle for the week, you will also get articulation and language worksheets. These worksheets have similar layouts which means you can use them for mixed groups without anyone feeling left out for having a different type of worksheet.

This month looks at the following themes:
- Picnics
- Easter
- Earth Day
- Bugs
Week #1: Picnics
The first week of April is based around picnics because the weather is finally starting to get warm enough for everyone to be able to go out and enjoy it! The weekly plan targets various goals, including short stories with comprehension questions, pronouns, and following directions. You can see all the goals targeted here.
The book companion activities included with this weeks’ plan is based around A Perfect Picnic.
Week #2: Easter
The second week is based around Easter which is on April 17th. The goals that are targeted this week include spatial sequencing, colors, counting, and more! You can check out the rest of the goals targeted for this week here.
The book companion activities included with this weeks’ plan is based around Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure.
Help keep your kids motivated this week by using Easter themed stickers. I have yet to meet an elementary kid who doesn’t like stickers! I know sometimes kids cannot decide on what sticker they want, so you could always do a mystery sticker by putting stickers inside Easter eggs and having them choose and get whichever one is inside! The best thing is that you can reuse these eggs the following year!
Week #3: Earth Day
The third week is based around Earth Day which is on April 22nd. The goals that are targeted include plurals, comparing & contrasting, following directions, and more! Check out the rest of the goals that are targeted in the description here.
The book companion activities included with this weeks’ plan is based around Anywhere Farm.
Week #4: Bugs
The last week of April is based on bugs with goals targeting rhyming, multi-step directions, vocabulary, and more! You can check out the rest of the goals that are targeted in the description here.
The book companion activities included with this weeks’ plan is based around An Ant’s Day Off.
After reading the book above, an exciting activity to complete with the kids would be to use toy ants and have them follow directions on where to place them around your room on their “day off”. This helps to get them up and moving, follow spatial directions, and can help them with receptive vocabulary. You could also use these ants to place into a sensory bin along with the vocabulary cards provided in the workbook to help cover even more language goals!
If you are interested in all of the lesson plans for this month, you can get all four of them at a discounted price here. These speech language materials and activities can be used multiple times and will help to change up your normal routine of playing the same games over and over again. I hope you enjoy!
