Have you ever wanted to do a pirate themed week in your speech therapy session but didn’t know where to start? Well, I have included a few pirate themed activities and resources that you can use in your speech therapy sessions below. These should give you a great place to start so you focus on the goals that you are targeting and allow the kids to enjoy the pirate theme!
Books
Here are some books that are based on pirates! You can use these books to work on WH- questions, sequencing, articulation practice, and more! I have created some book companion activities for The Pirates Next Door that can be purchased down below to help with planning time!
- The Pirates Next Door
- How to Be a Pirate
- Pete the Cat and the Treasure Map
- Pirate Boy
- The Berenstain Bears Pirate Adventure
- Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC
Games
Games are always a hit in my therapy sessions. Some of my favorite pirate themed games are below. You can use these to work on turn taking, articulation drill practice, following directions, and more.
Language Scenes
Language scenes allow you to work on so many different language and articulation goals. You can even use them to work on fluency goals! I created one that can be purchased down below, or you can search for some online! The one below includes WH- questions along with following 1 and 2 step directions. If you own any pirate themed books, you can use the pictures in the books as language scenes, too!
